Yes, the “brick and mortar” establishment that was Essential Wine Co. in Camarillo ceased operation in 2010. Unlike other defunct operations, there’s no need for the charade of “we’ll soon reopen in a new space and do business online in the meantime”. Reality is we have this lovely spot in cyberspace and the rent is paid on it for another year.
So back to getting my wannabe literary ya-ya’s off via the EWCo. blog and an occasional Newsletter blast. What’s the use of having a modern day megaphone if you can’t muse, meander and ramble on about the results of your latest adult beverage experiment? No longer having the licenses to sell nary a corkscrew let alone “Ethyl is not a lady” alcohol, any suggested devil’s elixir will need to be obtained from another pusherman purveyor in your environs.
The upside? We get to discuss everything from “high gravity beer” to Spanish Gin and yes, good ol’ fermented grape juice. Freedom is just another word for who cares about liquor license type, newly arrived inventory, or what’s available in the lower 48. To the EWCo. faithful that asked “Where are you?” (as well as those with ill intentions, vendettas, or wanting to exchange a Wine Princess Night Shirt in a Bag gift), be careful what you wish for.
Carpe Vinum,
Casey
